The Girl in the Steel Corset- Kady Cross

The Girl in the Steel Corset by Kady Cross
-The Steampunk Chronicles

There's a darkness within me something I can't always control.......
If you like a girl with a secret side, you're gonna love me........

In 1897 England, 16 year old Finley Jayne is all alone except the "Thing" inside her. When a young lord tries to take advantage of Finley, she fights back. And wins. No normal Victorian girl, much less maid, has a dark side that is capable of knocking out full-grown men to the ground with one punch.....
Only Griffin King sees the darkness inside her and says shes special. Shes one on them. He takes her into his band of misfits; Emily who has her own special ability and love for Sam, who is part robot; and Jasper, an American cowboy with a dark, dark secret....
They are investigating a criminal called the Machinist, and man behind the making of evil automatons. Finley thinks she can help-and finally fit in.
The Machinist wants to tear apart the group of friends. Finley knows what sides shes on but no on seems to believe her.

This book is a must read. I loves the growing, forbidden love between Griffin and Finley. I love that even Finley's mother has some of her own dark secrets. This is a truly one of a kind novel. When I was reading this book, I loved the protectiveness Griffin had for all of the 'misfits.'

3.5/5 stars

Starcrossed- Angelini

A Love written in the stars.....
A Feud started in Ancient Greece.......
A Curse not even the Gods can break....
Helen Hamilton is 16 and anything but normal. She, for starters, is not completely human. She is half Greek Goddess. When the Delos' come to the small town that she calls home, she feels an unnaturel hate as soon as she see them, especiallt toward Lucas Delos. It is with he who she is destined to love, to hate, to fight, to kill. Throughout this whole novel you can just guess what is going to happen. The question in the very back of your mind the entire time is; whats going to happen now? OH MY GOSH! DID THAT REALLY JUST HAPPEN! They are destined not to be together, they can only hope that love truly conquers all. If their loves fails, they will be captured into the cycle of death, destruction, and worst of all, broken hearts.

In this book( which I read front to back, never putting it down) I really felt that I connected with the characters. Angelini did an amazing job of bringing the characters to life. I could smell the air, feel it when she fell. And I have to say, I fell hard for Lucas, just as Helen did.
I love how she incorporated the first cycle with the one that's supposed to happen between Lucas and Helen. With the first cycle the woman's name was Helen too and the name of the first man was the name Lucas was supposed to have been given.

Overall I rated this book 4.5/5 stars.
Is it worth reading?: YES!!!!

XVI by-Julia Karr

In the future, innocence expires at sixteen....
Every girl gets one. An XVI tattoo on their wrist. The Government says its for their own protection.
Some girls can't wait to be sixteen, to be legal. Nina is not one of them. Even though she has no choice in the matter, she knows as long as her life continues as normal, everything will be okay.
Then, with one brutal strike, Nina's normal is shattered; and she discovers that nothing that she believed about her life is true. But there's one boy who can help- and he just may hold the key to her past.
But there's a line of attraction and danger as thin as a whisper, one thing is for sure....... for Nina, turning sixteen promises to be anything but sweet.

This book is all about what you never expect. Nina's friend, her best friend, and she cannot wait to become legal. For guys to look at her no-XVI tattooed writs in disappointment. When Nina discovers ground-breaking secrets, you never expect what is going to happen next. This is a must read for YA Fiction!! It kept me turning page after page until I was done. When I was finally done I sat the book down with a sigh. All I can say is that Julia Karr, you should really write another, a sequel to this amazing book! Great Job!

Into to what your getting into with reading this....
