Wake( Dream Catcher #1)
Created by Lisa McMann
Published by Simon & Schuster on March 4, 2008

Summary
For seventeen-year-old Janie, getting sucked into other people's dreams is getting old. Especially the falling dreams, the naked-but-nobody-notices dreams, and the sex-crazed dreams. Janie's seen enough fantasy booty to last her a lifetime.

She can't tell anybody about what she does they'd never believe her, or worse, they'd think she's a freak. So Janie lives on the fringe, cursed with an ability she doesn't want and can’t control.

Then she falls into a gruesome nightmare, one that chills her to the bone. For the first time, Janie is more than a witness to someone's twisted psyche. She is a participant.

Wake (Dream Catcher, #1)  Wake (Dream Catcher, #1)

my splurge:

How can the world of your dreams suddenly become not only yours, but shared with the world? How can the world shape you so that your secrets are designed to be revealed in your dreams-but they are suddenly revealed. They are no longer your own.
Janie doesn't mean to fall into anyone's dreams but her own-not that she has any-yet she still does. No one has ever interacted with her except Cabel.
 He is the only one.
And he doesn't run from her-he embraces the 'freak.'
He loves her for it.

The way McMann makes the writing evolve is genius. She makes the dreams extremely graphic-I cringed at some of them. I fear what people think of me now. Only a really good book can effect you. This one really made me think. What would it be like to collapse and enter another person's dream? I love the raw feelings that this story emitted.
This book is shorter than I usually read -Wake(210) Usual(400+)- but it it didn't feel even the slightest bit rushed. At all.

My favorite scenes:
1. When Janie was walking home from the dance & Cabel followed her and had her ride his skateboard to the house.
2. After Cabel tells Janie the truth() she leave him and goes to her car in the rain. He rushes after her, crying, and tell her hes sorry.
3. When Janie goes to the shed where Cabel's dad set him on fire (in his nightmare and in real life). She goes back and kisses his scars. He cries (again, but not in a weird way) and is really glad that she still loves him.

Taken by Storm
Author: Angela Morrison
Published by Razorbill on March 5, 2009
Reason I read it: was recommended to me

Summary
Mormon girl Leesie has life figured out until devastated Michael lands in her small town high school. He needs her like no one has before. A rare journey into a faithful LDS teen’s intimate struggle.
Leesie Hunt has many rules: No kissing. No dating outside the Mormon faith.

When Michael Walden--a deep-sea diver who lost his parents in a violent hurricane--arrives in town, Leesie sees someone who needs her. They fall for one another, even though his dreams are tied to the depths of the ocean and hers to salvation above.

Will their intense chemistry be too strong to resist?

Leesie and Michael must make the hardest choice of their lives: whether to follow their beliefs or their hearts.
Readers will be swept away by this tale of forbidden romance told in online chats, Leesie's chapbook poems, and Michael's dive log. It's as steamy as Twilight and just as clean.

First of all-I love all the covers. The cover of the one my friend gave me to read is the first one.
Here are my thoughts on the novel.

  2.5 stars
This book had me addicted..but I really didn't like it.
The writing style was cool. I liked how in the beginning Michael thoughts all had a lowercase 'i' instead of an uppercase 'I' like was used in the end. To me the lowercase signaled vulnerability and the uppercase gave me a sense of new found strength. I loved how for Leesie's thoughts all of it was in chat or poems. How you were never told what was happening to her outright, how it was always told in poetry really spoke to me.
I get how Michael was all broken up about the hurricane, but he was more moody than a girl with PMS and it was really starting to piss me off. It was obvious that they both needed the other-maybe thats why I hate the ending so much-but OMG get a freaking grip. She's doing the best she can, he should have respected that more. I didn't really get that Isadore was a hurricane until later in the book. I wish I got that sooner.
There was a lotta things I wish I could change but its not my book.
Oh, and I loved that she was Mormon!

"i feel my face relaxing into an idiot grin as we speed down the other side."
           "Lessie's worse than real ghosts."

"I watch as he dives
free"

Now, there is a second book in the series.

Unbroken Connection (Taken by Storm, #2)

What I think: I'm still not sure if I am going to read the second one. The first one didn't give me much hope. Also, as horrible as it sounds, I really, really hate Michael. He drives me insane. What I really hope for in the end is that Lessie is okay.

Changeling(Order of Darkness, Numero Uno)
Written by the Creative Mind of: Philippa Gregory
Published by Simon Pulse on  May 24, 2012

Dark myths, medieval secrets, intrigue, and romance populate the pages of the first-ever teen series from #1 bestselling author of The Other Boleyn Girl
Italy, 1453. Seventeen-year-old Luca Vero is brilliant, gorgeous—and accused of heresy. Cast out of his religious order for using the new science to question old superstitious beliefs, Luca is recruited into a secret sect: The Order of the Dragon, commissioned by Pope Nicholas V to investigate evil and danger in its many forms, and strange occurrences across Europe, in this year—the end of days.

Isolde is a seventeen-year-old girl shut up in a nunnery so she can’t inherit any of her father’s estate. As the nuns walk in their sleep and see strange visions, Isolde is accused of witchcraft—and Luca is sent to investigate her, but finds himself plotting her escape.

Despite their vows, despite themselves, love grows between Luca and Isolde as they travel across Europe with their faithful companions, Freize and Ishraq. The four young people encounter werewolves, alchemists, witches, and death-dancers as they head toward a real-life historical figure who holds the boundaries of Christendom and the secrets of the Order of the Dragon.

The first in a series, this epic and richly detailed drama is grounded in historical communities and their mythic beliefs. It includes a medieval map of Europe that will track their journey; and the interior will include relevant decorative elements as well as an interior line illustration. And look for a QR code that links to a note from the author with additional, detailed information about the setting and the history that informed the writing. With Philippa Gregory’s trademark touch, this novel deftly brings the past—and its salacious scandals—vividly and disturbingly to life.

*Summary of This Novel (The Changeling)  from Goodreads.com

Looks pretty good right? Well here is what I thought of it:

I love the things that are in the Mid-evil era. The excitement of the forbidden romances excites me. Unfortunately, this books romance was not really forbidden-neither was it exciting. It didn't even really present itself until the near-ending of the novel. When Philippa Gregory did finally show us the romance that she did so promise, she throws it at you, and none too kindly. She uses words like 'desire' but she doesn't show is the desire. She shows us-the readers-want. That is an entirely different thing than desire. Desire is a hidden spark that ignites in your heart that consumes you until you meet the water to quench the thirst of the flame. No desire.
The book was also really slow. It was a constant pace that never slowed down or sped up. I don't like books that jump from one thing to the next without even given the previous thought room to breathe-but I also don't like books that stay on one thing forever. CHANGELING was the latter.
Also the book title really held no importance to the story what so ever(except for one BRIEF occasion) and the book cover really doesn't fit the story except for the time period.
The ending was also unfinished.

I would award this book 2 stars and a half in total. It was more suited for readers lower level than me, but I guess I have nothing to complain about since it was a free, quick read.
