7 Deadly Sins of Reading

7 Deadly Sins of Reading

The 7 Deadly Sins of Reading Tag was created by BookishlyMalyza on YouTube. Watch her video here.

GREED - What is your most inexpensive book? What is your most expensive book?
Hmmmm. Well, I do love my Kindle. Maybe on the brink of adoration. Just maybe. My most inexpensive book(s) are all of the free books which are about 200+ on my Kindle. I do love me some freebies. And then also on my Kindle, my most expensive books was Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea at about $10. So yeah. I'm kind of cheap.
WRATH - What author do you have a love/hate relationship with?
John Green. You and I have a lot to discuss. I mean I can't really hate you but, I'm sorry. It is a very odd day when I cry. At all. And you, good sir, might have made me sob like a baby at the end of The Fault in Our Stars. Also I rarely ever give books 5 stars (no really) and I gave that one 5. So you can see my dilemma.
GLUTTONY - What book have you deliciously devoured over and over with no shame whatsoever?
Rachel Hawthorne's books. Goodness, I've never re read any books and much as I have hers. Especially Labor of Love.
SLOTH - What book have you neglected reading due to laziness?
The Story of Us by Deb Calettii. It's really sad how long it took me to read that book.
PRIDE - What book do you most talk about in order to sound like a very intellectual reader?
Classics. Always go for the classics...of course I've only read like two....
LUST - What attributes do you find most attractive in male or female characters?
Hmmm....humor. Seriously is a guy has no humor then there is no attraction what so ever. Tall. Old fashion manners wise, ie: holding the door open. Never underestimate the awesomeness of holding a door open. Bad boy turned good. (Think Perfect Chemistry or Pushing the Limits) Or just good guy. I don't really know after that...
ENVY - What books would you most like to receive as a gift?
YA or New Adult books of any kind would make me happy.  Who am I kidding.  I'd love any books at all. Seriously. Just gimme.

Happy Halloween!! (Boo)

Welcome to my stop on the Changling by Ari Harper blog tour!! I did a tour for the first book in the series, Witchling, also. Be sure to enter the giveaway and leave the author some comment love <3 p="">

Series: Curse of Kin #2
Release date: October 30th 2013
Publisher: Lycaon Press

BOOK DESCRIPTION:
Each of the three friends has a place in the curse. This book follows Sully as he finds out more about his history and his skills.

Nera's best friend Sully knows there is something special about him. After all, he is related to her uncle and Jasper is a witch.
Stands to reason that something would have been passed down.
They just have to find what powers Sully has been bestowed with.
But when they do, is it as simple as he thinks?
To be able to change into his animal and run wild is one thing. To be hunted for the beast that he is, is another. And when they find out who wants him dead, they realize that life isn't as simple as they thought.

About the Author

Ari Harper never wanted to grow up.
To offset the limitations of aging ungracefully, she created her own set of unique worlds where she can be and do whatever she wants.
Gods, witches and demons surround Ari while she spins her magic, doing mainly what they tell her to do. Given a chance, she prefers to work amongst chaos, which is good because she is constantly surrounded by children, all clamoring for attention. Some of them end up in her stories, some of them even get to die grisly deaths or be cast away to another realm. Her favorite pet is a big black dog called Hugo. You will find him as himself in the Curse of Kin series as Nera's faithful hound.

So this book and I aren't exactly on the same page. In the last one, Nera was a used to be human who came into the knowledge that she is a witch who is destined to save the human race and rule the world. I don't know about you but that would freak me out a bit. Okay, that wold freak me out A LOT. I mean, come on, the fate of the world literally rests on your shoulders. In this one, Sully, one of her best friends is coming into the power of shape shifting. Freakyy. Nera is coming to discover that she just keeps getting powers. She's getting stronger, faster and brattier. I honestly didn't think it was possible. It's like she has a need to make everyone feel bad if she is. I mean she even say it. Roar. Come on honey, I've said it before, grow freaking up. You're not going to get rid of your powers. Sorry you're stuck with them. Yeah, it really sucks to be you; you've got pretty awesome friends, an amazing family, an adorable little brother, powers that will help you be able to protect the ones you love and you've got Bones. Bones? Yeah, in case you haven't noticed (and I'm pretty sure you haven't) he's amazing. He cares about you so much and you treat him like crap. Everything he does it to protect you and you've said 'thank you' what- twice?

Okay, I think I'm done ranting about Nera and he brattiness. In case you can't tell, I'm not too fond of her. Now, Bones is another story.... I rather like him. I feel really bad for him. Why he likes Nera I will never understand. Why Sully likes Nera I will never understand either. Not a fan of Sully either. Not very good at keeping promises and is kind of a baby. *shugs* There's a line between bluntness/ being mean and telling it how it it. Yeah Nera is mean. Dear guys, why do you like her? Okay, not to talk about something other than what I feel about the characters.

Okay, so when Nera gets into people's head, the way the thoughts are formed are kind of weird. On page 95 of the ARC Bones thinks "I feel betrayed and resentful" and no one ( and I mean no one) thinks like that. Sometimes the characters talk and think a little funny, especially for highschoolers, but overall I thought that it was well composed. Sometimes the five year old's thoughts/ speech was a little too formal. I know, I know. He's supposed to be mature for his age because he has freakin awesome powers, but can we make it a little more realistic? Please?

Okay, you know what I would love? Like really, really, really adore? If we could have a few scenes from Bones' POV. There's this one scene where Bones is in the background and Jasper coughs and when Nera turns around Bones is blushing and I would love to know what he was thinking that was so embarrassing.

And then there's the love triangle. Yes, there's a love triangle. I actually thought it was well composed for one; it wasn't mushy and weird. It was kind of cute. Whenever Bones was around, Sully would get all touch feely and when ever Sully was around, Bones would get short and snappy. It was cute. I found it a little funny.

I love the descriptions in here. I could see everything. The emotions were real (not matter how much I though some of them were uncalled for) and so were the smells, sights and sounds.

Overall this book is loveable with a MC who needs to grow and and a boy named Bones who needs to not let her push him away.

Publisher: TSW Books

BOOK DESCRIPTION:

Branden McCarthy is determined to change her views.

Will Moya finally do the impossible and give love a chance with Branden, or will fear keep them apart?
AUTHOR INFO:
Shane Morgan is a lover of "interesting" books. Her imagination is always running wild so it's best to collect and organize them into separate stories.

Shane's love for writing started the moment she picked up a Nancy Drew book. At a young age, she began writing short stories, delving into a variety of genres: from comedy and drama, to horror and contemporary romance. Shane's quite intrigued by the otherworldly or things otherwise deemed "impossible." Well, in her opinion, people never really grow up, do they?

Excerpt:

The first kiss – Branden’s POV

Moya’s eyes widened when I spun her around to face me. It was obvious what I was about to do and I knew very well she wouldn’t let it happen without a fight. Her attempts at being freed were futile as my hold increased the more she squirmed in my arms.
      “Let go!” she demanded.
I blew hard, eager to drown myself in the sweetness of her lips. Dismissing her protest—and the little voice at the back of my head telling me not to—I shoved my mouth to hers and kissed her hungrily.
Moya lifted her hands to my chest and pushed tentatively, and just as fast they began to lower. I knew she couldn’t resist the deep passion evoking between us. Finally, she yielded, and I wrapped my arms even tighter around her as Moya parted her lips and allowed me to enter.
We groaned as our tongues collided, touching each other wildly as if the kiss was not only our first but our last. Moya placed her hands on my lower back, touching me sensually with her fingertips as she worked her way up my spine. She caressed the back of my neck, and then combed her fingers seductively through my hair.
By the time the kiss ended, we were both panting, trying to breathe steadily.
Moya wobbled as she backed away. “I have to get to class,” she whispered shakily as if under a trance.
I released her with regret and watched as Moya turned and started up the path, staggering along the way.
Afterwards, I dragged my thumb lightly along my lips, eyes fastened on Moya as she walked away. I could still feel the heat of her skin on mine, giving light to a fire of pleasure that threatened to make my hands shake in memory of her taste.
Motivated by the promise of her presence, I walked up the path as well, following behind the girl I was indisputably falling hard for and fast.
